Tercentenary Celebration in Fargo, North Dakota

Churches United for the Homeless (CUFH), with which Sacred Heart Convent has a long association, was selected because of its positive impact on many vulnerable people. Dakota Medical Foundation (DMF) was approached and asked if they would join in the tribute to Nano by making a matching gift. DMF did not only match but more than tripled the final donation!

Thus, the Presentation Family in the Fargo area observed the Tercentenary of the birth of Venerable Nano Nagle on 12 July 2018 with Eucharist, gift, meal, camaraderie and cake. Bishop John Folda presided at the liturgy

Sr Katherine Fennell, pbvm and Kathy Hogan, Friends of Nano

and preached a homily saluting Nano and her prayerful service. The gift was the donation of $13,000 to Churches United for the Homeless (CUFH). The menu included produce gathered that morning from the Sacred Heart Convent garden. Joining in the celebration were guests from CUFH, local Presentation peace and justice advocates, representatives of DMF and community supporters of CUFH. The birthyear cake was decorated with a portrait of Nano which was created from multiple small photos of Fargo area Sisters and Friends of Nano (FoN). (The portrait was originally created by Fargo-affiliated FoN for their 2018 gathering, the theme of which was ‘Being Nano Today’).
