Presentation Sisters host Misean Cara Members Meeting in ChennaiBack
Misean Cara is a Member Organisation with 90 members, mostly religious congregations or apostolic societies and two lay organisations. It supports the development work of Irish missionaries around the world who are involved in promoting poverty eradication, education, health care, social justice, peace, the integrity of creation, and inter-religious collaboration.
Members can access Irish Aid funding for development projects or capacity building through Misean Cara. The staff regularly conduct monitoring visits to a selection of funded projects in some of the 28 countries where members are present. As part of the visit to a country, religious are invited to a Members Meeting.
In August 2016, the CEO of Misean Cara, Heydi Foster, while on a monitoring visit to South India, asked the Presentation Sisters to host the Members meeting and organise the logistics. Sr Margaret Power organised the venue at Sacred Heart Matric Higher Secondary School in Church Park, Chennai.
Members from various congregations including Presentation Sisters attended and learned about Misean Cara developments, the changes brought about in the lives of beneficiaries, the new funding schemes and how groups worldwide are contributing to the Strategic Plan 2017 to 2020. Participants then worked in discussion groups and added their contributions and ideas for the strategizing committee.
Following lunch most of the participants remained behind to have one to one talks with Heydi who was accompanied by her husband and who described her time in Chennai as very enjoyable and profitable.
