16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence

Back

25/11/2019

The annual 16 Days of Action Against Gender Based Violence UNiTE Campaign begins today, 25 November, which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This Campaign will run until 10 December, which is International Human Rights Day.

For each day of this campaign we will be sharing some information which has been compiled by the inter-congregational group ‘Future We Need’ (FWN). This is a faith-based group with members from Presentation, Mercy, Columbans, Franciscans, Salesians and Josephites.

This Campaign reflects some of the core principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular Goal number 5 – Gender Equality. As Presentation Sisters, our Congregation is shaped by fidelity to the Gospel as expressed in the spirituality and charism of Nano Nagle. We embody her commitment to the education and care of the vulnerable and powerless. (Our Way of Life:C2). We support this campaign as there is a real need to work together to end violence against women and girls around the world.

The Future We Need Group have compiled 16 pamphlets, one for each day of the Campaign, which has a different topic relating to gender based violence. You can access these pamphlets via the links below.

We ask that you take the time to read them, understand the need for change and pray that we can all work together to end violence against women and girls.
